Participants are kindly requested to arrive the afternoon of Sunday Sept 7th (the school will start on Monday Sept 8th at 9 in the morning).

School’s Free Shuttle Buses from the Grenoble Bus Station

We have arranged special shuttle buses between the Grenoble Bus Station ("Grenoble Coach" / "Gare Routière" in French) and the school venue in Autrans. On Sunday, the school’s free shuttle buses will run every 2 hours between 12 noon and 20:00 (8PM).
 A hostess will wait for you at a counter showing the ARTIST logo inside the Grenoble Bus Station. She will inform you where to take the School’s free shuttle to the school venue in Autrans.

Arrival via St Exupery Lyon airport

Whether you arrive at airport Terminal 1 or 2, please go to the Departures floor, a hostess for the school will be waiting for you at the Meeting Point. She will guide you to the airport shuttle bus counter leaving for Grenoble Bus Station. Public transport buses from Lyon airport to Grenoble Bus Station ("Grenoble Coach" / “Gare Routière” in French) are available every hour all day from 7:30 to 23:30. One way ticket is 20 €, return 30 € (not covered by the school). Travel time is 1 hour and 5 minutes with 1 stop only just before Grenoble Bus Station (see Shuttle Buses above).

Arrival via Grenoble Train station

Coming out of the train station, please walk to your left towards the Grenoble Bus Station (“Gare Routière” in French). A hostess will wait for you at a counter showing the ARTIST logo at the Bus Station. She will inform you where to take the School’s free shuttle to the school venue in Autrans (see Shuttle Buses above).
NB: Public transport shuttle buses are also available (in this case you will need to change bus in Villard de Lans). One way ticket is 4 €. Please ask the driver to stop at the school venue “l’Escandille” in Autrans.

Arrival via Grenoble (St Geoirs) airport

There is only one terminal. Public transport buses to Grenoble Bus Station ("Grenoble Coach" / “Gare Routière” in French) are available.

Arrival via Geneva Airport

Three airport shuttle buses per day are available between Geneva Airport and Grenoble Bus Station.
Departure times: 11:00, 14:30 and 20:00.
Travel time is 2 hours and 30 minutes with one stop only in Chambery. One way ticket is 43 €, return ticket is 69 €.
Please go to the “Tourist Information Office” to purchase your ticket, opposite the exit gate.

Late Arrivals

For late arrivals (ie after the schools last shuttle bus that leaves at 20:00 /8PM on Sunday 7th), taxis will be available outside the Grenoble Train Station. A night fare to Autrans is around 87€ (not covered by the school). You may also call the taxis at +33 476 54 42 54 or visit http://www.taxi-grenoble.fr/english/reservation-taxis-grenoble.htm

Should you decide to stay over in a hotel in Grenoble, please visit the Grenoble Tourism Office to make your reservation on-line.
The school will not cover the cost of a hotel in Grenoble.

In that case, you are kindly requested to take the public transport shuttle bus early on Monday morning but please note that the first departure is on 8:15 am arriving in Autrans at 9:15!

Departure from Autrans after the summer School

Please note the course will end at 15:30 on Friday 12th (not at 17:00). The coffee break will still be served until 16h00 to allow last discussions.

Shuttles have been arranged to the Grenoble main Bus Station. Departure from L’Escandille in Autrans is scheduled at 16h15 on Friday. Travel time to Grenoble will be 90 minutes (due to Friday traffic) so estimated time of arrival at Grenoble Bus station is 17:45.

Should you leave l’Escandille before 16:15, you may either order a taxi or decide to take the public transport shuttle Autrans-Grenoble. Please see Autrans tourist website for exact departure times.

School Venue / Accommodations

The ARTIST2 Summer School 2008 in Europe will be held at the seminar centre:

Rooms have been booked from Sunday Sept 7th (3 PM) to Friday Sept 12th (morning).
Due to a high occupancy rate of the centre at that period of time, students will be on Double or Triple occupancy basis. Upon arrival please check in at the reception where you will receive your badge and programme for the week.

A welcome drink will be served at the hotel at 19h00 on Sunday followed by a dinner.

All lunches and dinners will be served at L’Escandille daily with the exception of the Tuesday 9 September, dinner at the Hotel La Buffe (walking distance http://www.la-buffe.fr/) and Thursday 11 September, Gala Dinner which will be held at the Grand Hotel de Paris in Villars de Lans (http://www.ghp-vercors.com). Transfers have been arranged by coach from Autrans to Villars de Lans and back on Thursday evening.

On Friday 12, rooms must be left by 12 noon. A safe luggage area will be provided to store your luggage until the end of the course.
