Workshops and Seminars in 2005

The workshop will have two parts: The first two days are devoted to a limited set of scientific presentations and discussions concerning three major areas: Modular design strategies for distributed embedded systems, predictability and efficiency, design space exploration and application scenarios. The third and fourth day are devoted to Performance Analysis of Embedded Systems.

This first workshop on on Embedded Systems Education aims to bring researchers, educators, and industrial representatives together to assess needs and share design, research, and education experiences in embedded systems.

This special session is an integral part of the EUROMICRO 2005 conference. The conference proceedings will be published by the IEEE Computer Society.

MEMOCODE will bring together a wide body of researchers and developers, to advance the science and practice of enterprise systems development. The program will consist of presentations on almost every aspect of high-performance enterprise systems, including worklow management, scalability, security, modeling and design, configuration management, portability, file systems and communications.

Transatlantic Research Agenda on Future Challenges in Embedded Systems Design, organised by Helen Gill (National Science Foundation), Alkis Konstantellos (European Commission), Shankar Sastry (UC Berkeley), Joseph Sifakis (VERIMAG and ARTIST2 NoE), Janos Sztipanovits (Vanderbilt University - ISIS), Mateo Valero (Technical University of Catalonia).

The aim was to gather together leading researchers from academia and industry, to discuss research challenges and emerging industrial trends on component-based engineering. The ultimate goal is to identify complementarities and synergies in standardization to respond to the needs for a more cross-sectoral approach to embedded systems.

Workshop on Operating Systems Platforms for Embedded Real-Time applications. This workshop is intended as a forum for researchers and practitioners of RTOS to discuss the recent advances in RTOS technology and the challenges that lie ahead.

Provide an overview of scheduling and resource allocation techniques for developing predictable and adaptive real-time systems. In addition, a strong emphasis on the interaction and integration of control systems and real-time systems will be given.

The workshop’s objectives are to strengthen the links between the ARTIST2 and the DATE communities, through a presentation by prominent members of selected topics which may be of interest. The ARTIST2 Network of Excellence on embedded systems software design aims to strengthen European research in Embedded Systems Design, and promote the emergence of this new multi-disciplinary area.

The Eighth International Workshop on Hybrid Systems : Computation and Control (HSCC 2005) attracts researchers from academia and industry interested in modeling, analysis, and implementation of dynamic and reactive systems involving both discrete and continuous behaviors.

The aim of this workshop is to give a short introduction to the Shark real-time operating system. The workshop is organised by the ARTIST2 Network of Excellence and receives additional sponsorship from the FIRST project. It is organized by the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna and by the Robotic Laboratory of the Università di Pavia.
