Participants are kindly requested to arrive the afternoon of Saturday Sept 3rd and stay for the duration of the school, until Friday Sept 9th lunch. The school will start on Sunday Sept 4th at 9:00 (doors will be closed). Travel information is here.

School Venue / Accommodations

The ARTIST Summer School in Europe 2011 will be held at the Domaine de Marlioz seminar centre:

Close to the town center of Aix-les-Bains and Lake Bourget, and only five minutes from the TGV train station, the 3-star Mercure Thalassa Acquaviva hotel, set in ten hectares of parkland, provides a warm welcome. The majority of the hotel’s 100 rooms and studios feature balconies overlooking forest landscapes and the Domaine de Marlioz gardens. A corridor connects the hotel with the balneotherapy center and spa.
Rooms for the participants have been booked from Saturday, Sept 3rd (from 15:00) to Friday, Sept 9th (morning). Participants must be present the entire time. Students will be on Double or Triple occupancy basis. Speakers have individual rooms.

Upon arrival Saturday please check in at the ARTIST reception desk where you will receive your badge, the programme for the week including a detail on social activities, a list of attendees, and a certificate of attendance. A welcome drink and presentation of the week will take place at the hotel at around 19:30 and will be followed by a welcome dinner.

All meals will be served on-site at the Domaine de Marlioz seminar centre, except for the gala dinner Tuesday. See the schedule for further information.

Thalassothérapie / Balneothérapie

The Domaine de Marlioz has full spa services. We highly recommend that you bring regular swimwear. Light sandals are recommended if you have them, otherwise these can be bought on-site. Please note that you may not wear regular clothing (eg: shorts) to the pool or spa.

WiFi

WiFi is available in the rooms and the seminar room. Bandwidth is limited - please try to avoid using the WiFi at peak times (eg: just after the sessions). If needed (eg: for a web-meeting), you can pay for a higher bandwidth - please see this directly with the hotel on-site.

Departure times / date

On Friday, Sept 9th, please note rooms must be vacated by 12 noon. A safe luggage area will be provided to store your luggage on Friday if necessary.

The school will adjourn just after lunch on Friday - no lectures will take place in the afternoon.
