Getting to Gramado

To get to Gramado from abroad, you should first take a flight to Porto Alegre (Salgado Filho International Airport) and then take a terrestrial transportation (explained later on).

Salgado Filho International Airport is the largest airport located in Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, Southern Brazil. Salgado Filho Airport is well served by domestic flights, specially from Brazil’s two most important gateway ports: Rio de Janeiro (Antônio Carlos Jobim Int’l Airport) and São Paulo (Gov. André Franco Montoro Int’l Airport). Besides, there are also international flights with direct connections to Salgado Filho departing from cities of the Southern Cone (e.g., Buenos Aires and Montevideo).

Departing from Salgado Filho Airport, the possible transportation towards Gramado are by transfer service, taxi or bus. The fare by person (one way) is the folowing:

- By Transfer Service: R$ 60,00 ( U$ 34.00)

- By Taxi: from R$ 300,00 ( U$ 170,00) to R$ 400,00 ( U$ 226,00)

- By Bus: R$ 26,90 ( U$ 15,25 including insurance)

Passport & Visa

A valid passport is required to travel to Brazil.

A tourism visa is required for citizens of several countries. For example, a visa is required for U.S. and Canadian citizens. In this case, please visit the Brazilian Embassy website in Washington, D.C. For further information about visa application requirements, contact your travel agent and/or a local Brazilian Consulate office.

Accommodations

The Organisation selects Hotel Serra Azul as the official hotel of the School. Located in the central part of Grama do, only 800m away from UFRGS Convention Center. Other hotels in Gramado and region can be found in hotel lists.
