Overview

General Information about the course

Purpose

The Centre for Advanced Digital Systems of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, will organise for the fourth time the Advanced Digital Systems Design course on 25th-29th September, 2006. The invited lecturers are top experts in the respective fields and are active in research and teaching at leading European universities. Courses will be taught in English. Each attendee will receive a certificate of attendance to the course.

Learning Objectives

This course aims at illustrating to designers of complex embedded systems the most interesting emerging design technologies. The addressed techniques will be crucial to design multimillion-transistor Systems-on-Chip and other state-of-the-art embedded products. The course spans from purely digital-design topics to some compiler-related issues: the purpose is to expose the fundamental methodological link between these two facets of the design process. Only a deep understanding of the strengths of both hardware and software techniques can guarantee the design of successful embedded systems meeting challenging real-time or energy constraints.

Participant Profile

The prerequisite of the course is a basic knowledge and experience in current digital design methodologies. Designers with different levels of expertise can all benefit from this course. Also, company managers and design flow experts may distill from this course key information on current trends in complex system design.
